Okay -- could this be used to manage a Mastodon blog?

I wonder if this still works?

Just want to be sure the new server is working ok.

I had to move the 1999.io server app to a different machine.

Still diggin! wink

In v0.90v of the 1999 editor, it's easier to add Disqus comments to a blog.

1. Edit the template and add [%disqusComments%] after the divChatLog section of the body. It might already be there if you created your site after Aug 29, 2016. Here's a screen shot that illustrates the placement.

2. Choose Settings from the System menu at the right edge of the menu bar. Click on the Disqus tab.

3. Click the checkbox to enable the feature.

4. Optional. If you have created your own Disqus group you can enter its id in the space provided.

5. Click OK.

6. Edit a post on the site and update it. Click on the Eye icon for the post. if it worked you should see a comments section at the bottom of the post.

If you have any questions post a comment here.

I am testing a new feature in development for 1999.io.

When you add a margin image to a post, it's also used as the image in the metadata that's transmitted to Twitter and Facebook in the HTML <head> section. This is not optimal. Because the image used in the right margin is usually too low-resolution to work in the context that Twitter and Facebook use them.

So I added a new payload value, imageForMeta, which is the URL of an image that should be used in the metadata. If it isn't specified, we use the low rez image, if specified.

This post has a nice high rez image of Abraham Lincoln as the imageForMeta. Let's see if Facebook and Twitter pick it up.

It's hot, so hot that I decided a bike ride would be better than a walk. At least on a ride you make your own breeze. Fargo

This is a heading

It was good until the final stretch which is all uphill, so sloooow and no breeze. And hot, and no shade, so sweat was pouring out of my eyes. I brought a towel with me so I could wipe the sweat off my face, many years of bike rides in hot weather, but when I did it, out popped the contact lens and my vision became uncorrected. Now I have to navigate by color. There's no detail to my vision without lenses.

Even worse, I could feel the lens in my eye, somewhere, the wrong place. And I thought oh shit, it's behind my eyeball. Now I'm screwed.

I made it home. Went to the mirror and looked, and it was right there, so I pinched it and took it out and put it in solution -- I'll put it back in. Maybe I'm getting the hang of it. Knock wood.

Sample code for reading a chatLog.json file.

Okay we now have the customized About dialog working.

Very nice Senor Davey.

I stumbled across the nicest thing!

I commented out the code that handles the "will-navigate" event. It opened the url in the external browser. So now when you try log on via twitter, all the action happens in the Electron window!

That was totally unforseen. But how can I call this a bug? It's even better behavior. And it seems to wipe out the Welcome To The Camp message.

Hmm!

mainWindow.loadUrl seems to be opening the url in the chrome external browser window, not within the electron app, if it's happening on the second load.

maybe there's a way to reload the window if it's already open?

I am interested to see if this works.

Hmm why aren't there any items in my feed?

Of course -- none of them have titles. Doh!

The signon process was very flaky.

Need to figure out how to create the first-time user experience, so I can debug that.

I'm here on my iPad now.

Updating away!

Happy I am to have a blog here!

And happy I am to edit this blog.

Zippy it is at updating!!!

I've now got a blog on my.1999.io!
